Since 1952, the Ingalls Apprentice School has produced more than 4,000 graduates in support of Ingalls Shipbuilding's operational needs.
The Apprentice School provides a comprehensive three-to-four-year curriculum for students interested in shipbuilding careers. Students attend classes one day per week for 4.5 hours, earning competitive wages and benefits from 30 days after starting. Advancement is based on length of participation, and all overtime hours count toward the apprentice's hours worked.

The Haley Reeves Barbour Maritime Training Academy is located off Highway 90 in Pascagoula, Mississippi. The 70,000-square-foot campus includes 24 classrooms, 3 computer labs, a library, 26 offices and conference rooms, and state-of-the-art craft labs.
The program is offered in partnership with Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 733, and the Pascagoula Metal Trades Council.
